Departamento de Comunicación
Date 20/03/2019
This congress has been very special, as we celebrate our thirtieth anniversary. 30 years! It seems like a lie!
On Thursday, March 14th, we visited the new offices of Balms Abogados in La Alcazaba, as some of our colleagues in Madrid and Vigo did not know her. This cocktail is the perfect time to greet and tell us everything that has happened since we last saw each other.
The congress itself, as usual, began with the welcome of the president of Balms Abogados, Mr. Juan Luís Balmaseda de Ahumada to all attendees and the presentation of the annual accounts of 2018 and economic objectives of 2019, by office and department. This year has been a sensational year for all offices, especially for the Vigo office, which has new and large clients and the Madrid office, after the incorporation of the tax department.
On the occasion of our thirtieth anniversary we have updated our corporate image. It has been a challenge. We wanted to maintain our identity, our colours, but modernise it. Go back to our origins, to our old logo, but renewed. And we believe that we have achieved it. The second part of the congress is dedicated to show the new corporate identity, including several videos, which everyone liked very much.
After the presentation it was the time of the communication department, which again, like every year, try to show the importance of social networks and try to convince us all to get more involved with the online marketing of the company.
Later we could enjoy a coffee break in one of the hotel terraces. While we were drinking coffee, different groups of colleagues were formed who chatted animatedly about the year since the last congress and seen it during the morning in the room.
After the break, Mr. Antonio Heredero-Posadas, partner of Balms Vigo and president of the Balms Foundation for Children, showed us a very emotional video of the foundation and also enjoyed the surprise video prepared by the communication department telling the story of the Foundation and showing the different projects in which it participates.
Finally, and to end the day in a somewhat more relaxed way, we enjoy the talk given by Judge-Judge Mr. José Raúl Calderón Peragón, author of the book “Process to an innocent. Was the trial of Jesus legal?”
In the exhibition he made us question whether this process was legal or not. He tried to answer numerous questions, which after two thousand years remain unsolved. José Raúl contributed his conclusions, drawn from the evangelical texts and other external sources, which allowed him to expose the reality of what happened in the arrest of Jesus, the Jewish and Roman process to which he was subjected, the condemnatory sentence and the study medical-legal of his death, work with which it is possible to demonstrate the procedural irregularities that accompanied this trial.
Upon completion, Mr. Juan Luis Balmaseda de Ahumada concluded the session and after the family photos of rigour, we enjoyed a meal together in Estepona, saying goodbye to the day until the next day.
The second day of the congress is always more relaxed. We congregate again at 9:30 for coffee and then we meet by departments to talk about the issues of interest of each department specifically.
At 13:30 a cocktail and appetiser was served and we blow the candles for our 30 years, ending the congress. See you next year.
